In nature there is a quietness, an intense aliveness, a mystery that is difficult to fathom and therefore a constant source of inspiration. At the same time, it teaches humility. When observing nature, I see realism as much as I see the surreal. My process is a balance of external observation and inner inspiration, embracing familiar references that reflect upon this mystery.
After discovering a strong connection to painting at a young age, a long journey of experimentation followed, using the art process as a primordial language of expression. I became fascinated by the depth visual expression can convey, a depth capable of touching the viewer with either intimacy or severity.
I studied at various art institutions early on, followed by a long period of digestion to realise my own voice as an artist, and my own methods of communicating ideas through painting. As the journey continues, the core principles of sincerity and authenticity continue to strengthen. New inspiration constantly draws the practice into unfamiliar territory, exciting, unpredictable, and at times intimidating.
“Honest inner reflection complemented with honest action is art.”
